Tennessee women’s basketball keeps on winning. The Lady Vols picked up two more wins last week including a thrilling win at Missouri that included a Rickea Jackson go ahead basket in the final moments.

The win at Missouri marked Tennessee’s ninth straight and improved its SEC record to a perfect 8-0. Beating Missouri in the final seconds combined with a lopsided win over Florida made the Lady Vols ESPN’s women’s team of the week.
“They have won nine games in a row, eight of them in SEC play,” ESPN wrote. “That includes this past week’s 74-56 win against Florida on Thursday and a 68-65 nailbiter on the road against Missouri on Sunday. The Tigers led 65-60 with a minute left, but the Lady Vols scored eight points in the final 55 seconds to get the win.”

Kellie Harper’s fourth Tennessee team is tied for the lead in SEC play with South Carolina and LSU— though the Tigers have played one fewer game. Despite the red hot stretch to SEC play, Tennessee still sits right outside the top 25 in this week’s AP Poll.
While Tennessee has turned its season around after a rocky start against a loaded non conference slate, life gets much harder for the Lady Vols in the next eight games.
First, Tennessee hosts arch rival UConn Thursday night in a major national game that will bring College Gameday to Knoxville. Then the Lady Vols head on the road next Monday to face a strong LSU team.
Tip-off between the Lady Vols and Huskies is at 8 p.m. ET. ESPN is broadcasting the game.
