Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel met with the media in Knoxville on Monday morning to start Week 11 in the Volunteers’ program.
Coming off of their first loss of the season on Saturday, the Vols hit the practice field on Monday morning to get ready for this weekend’s Senior Day and Salute to Service game against Missouri.
Heupel opened his press conference with a statement about the week ahead and then went out to answer a few questions about the Georgia game. Heupel spoke about the lessons that the team took away and about some of the ways that Georgia’s defense stifled Tennessee’s offense.
“The energy in the building was good,” Heupel said about the return to the building on Monday. “Were guys disappointed after the game? Yeah. If they weren’t, then we would have real issues. We had an opportunity, one, for them to go into the position meetings and unit meetings and just see the landscape from the coaches’ perspective. They had the chance to watch it with them. And then as a team too, just watch how the game unfolded and things that we did, that we can control the game and make it play out differently. That’s the great thing about this sport, is that you only get one opportunity. You play 10 times, it unfolds differently 10 times every time.”
In addition to the Georgia game, though, Heupel also spoke about Tennessee’s next opponent in Missouri and the ways that the Tigers are successful, specifically on the offensive side.
AP No. 5 Tennessee will host Missouri this upcoming Saturday in the last home game of the season at noon ET.
