Tennessee Announces Uniforms For Top 20 Matchup Against Kentucky

Tennessee’s dark mode uniforms are making its 2022 season debut on Saturday against Kentucky with a new twist. After wearing white helmets with the alternate uniforms a season ago, the Vols added a black helmet to compliment the uniform combination.

Tennessee added the dark mode uniforms to the arsenal last season under Josh Heupel. The black alternate uniforms made their debut in a blowout win over South Carolina. The Vols wore them again in their November loss to No. 1 Georgia.

The Vols have worn their traditional home uniforms in rivalry games this season but haven’t bee afraid to wear alternate uniforms either. Tennessee wore its Smokey Grey uniforms in its win at LSU and is now breaking out the dark mode uniforms Halloween weekend.

Tennessee is unbeaten on the season, wearing its traditional home uniforms in three games, its all orange uniforms twice and the Smokey Grey and all white stormtrooper uniforms once a piece.

The third-ranked Vols are 7-0 (3-0 SEC) on the season entering Saturday’s matchup against No. 19 Kentucky (5-2, 2-2 SEC)

Kentucky’s earned wins over Florida and Mississippi State while falling at Ole Miss and at home against South Carolina— though Wildcats quarterback Will Levis didn’t play.

The Vols are coming off a win over UT Martin entering the game while Kentucky is coming off its lone open date of the season.

Kick off between Tennessee and Kentucky is set for 7 p.m. ET. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe are on the call for ESPN.
