Tennessee will open the season in Neyland Stadium against Ball State this Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. ET.
The Cardinals finished the 2021 season with an overall record of 6-7. Ball State defeated Western Illinois, Army, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Akron, and Buffalo last year but wound up closing the season down on a bowl game loss to Georgia State in the TaxAct Camellia Bowl.
Tennessee handily defeated Bowling Green by a score of 38-6 to start the 2021 season, and the outcome of this Thursday’s game doesn’t expect to be much different. ESPN’s Football Power Index currently gives Tennessee a 95.1 percent chance to take home the victory in week one in front of a hungry home crowd.
Vols head coach Josh Heupel will be partaking in his opening game week press conference on Monday afternoon at 12:15 p.m. ET. Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider throughout the day for coverage from Heupel’s press conference in Knoxville.
