Four-star defensive lineman Tomarrion Parker decommitted from Penn State Tuesday afternoon. Parker was committed to the Nittany Lions for just under two months before backing off his pledge.
The Phenix City, Alabama native is one of the top interior defensive linemen in the 2023 class coming from Central High School.
Parker ranks as the No. 100 player and No. 12 defensive lineman in the 2023 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings. Despite Parker being the No. 100 player nationally, he’s just the No. 11 player in the loaded “Yellow Hammer” state in the 2023 cycle.
More From RTI: Tennessee Receives Prediction For Cornerback Target
The Vols were serious players in Parker’s recruitment before he committed to Penn State. Parker visited Knoxville for the Pittsburgh game last fall, in March and again in May for Tennessee’s “RockyTopPalooza” weekend.
Once he committed to Penn State, Parker only visited Happy Valley. However, the blue-chip prospect visited a number of school before his commitment.
Florida, Michigan State and Auburn were three of the schools — along with Tennessee — that earned the most visits from Parker during his recruitment.
Parker hasn’t officially visited Tennessee. Josh Heupel and his staff getting the 6-foot-4, 250 pound defensive lineman to Knoxville for a game this fall is the next step in Tennessee become a major player in his recruitment.
Tennessee’s 2023 recruiting class currently has four defensive linemen committed but Georgia native Tyree Weathersby is the only interior defensive lineman while the others are edge rushers.
