VFL Peyton Manning Debuts New Game Show ‘The Final Straw’ on ABC

Peyton Manning is back for another go in the game show world. After hosting NBC’s College Bowl last summer, Manning’s new television adventure debuted on Sunday night.

Manning is an executive producer on the new ABC television show The Final Straw.

The Final Straw is a show that only can be described as larger-than-life Jenga using the strangest of items. While the concept may be an odd one, though not any odder than some of the other game shows out there today, the premier episode seemed to have audiences locked in on Sunday evening.

To help sell the show, ABC relied on Manning’s popularity and genuine sense of humor on Sunday. The former Tennessee Volunteer and Hall of Fame quarterback took to Instagram to post a video that had every bit of Peyton Manning humor that viewers have come to expect through his popular TV commercials.

“When I brought my exciting new game show, The Final Straw, to ABC, I told them, ‘Listen, I’m a former quarterback, but I am going to be hands-off this project. Alright?'”

Manning, of course, then went on to make some changes in the sketch. Despite rotating backgrounds and scenery in the video, Manning had plenty of changes to make – including one nod to Rocky Top.

“Yeah, look, I think the set looks amazing,” Manning continued on to say in the video. “I mean, it’s perfect. Now the one thing that could really make it look perfect is if we change the whole thing to orange.”

Certainly could raise the ratings in East Tennessee… and Denver.

In fairness, two of Manning’s former teams both claim the color orange – Tennessee and the Denver Broncos. One of the more fun aspects of the post is both fanbases claiming the “orange” line in the comment section. For every post that quoted the line and said “Go Vols”, there was a comment right beneath it that was arguing for Denver and vice versa.

Since his retirement from the NFL, Manning has been working extensively with the network family of Disney, ABC, and ESPN. Peyton Manning has seemingly been everywhere in 2022 – from the desk of Saturday Night Live to countless commercials, Monday night broadcasting to NFL schedule announcing, Manning has been doing it all.

In April, Peyton Manning and his wife Ashley announced the Demaryius A. Thomas Scholarship Endowment Award to honor his teammate and friend at Georgia Tech.

Then, one month later, Manning received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Series at the 42nd Annual Sports Emmy Awards in March.

The Final Straw, with host Janelle James and executive producer Peyton Manning, will air on Sunday nights on ABC.
