Blue Chip Receiver Sets Imminent Commitment Date

Four-star receiver Cameron Seldon is announcing his college decision on July 7, 247sports Steve Wiltfong reported Wednesday.

Seldon is deciding between Tennessee, Penn State and Maryland and will announce his commitment live at 4:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports HQ.

The 6-foot-1, 220 pound receiver ranks as the No. 104 player in the nation and No. 7 athlete in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. 247sports own rankings are even higher on Seldon, tabbing him as the 24th best player in the nation and an extremely high four-star recruit.

The Heathsville, Virginia native plays an abundance of positions for Northumberland High School including receiver, running back and defensive end. Despite his versatility on the high school field, Seldon projects as a receiver at the college level.

Seldon visited a handful of schools this spring including Virginia Tech, Virginia and Tennessee before officially visiting his three finalists in consecutive weeks last month.

The dynamic receiver has family ties to Penn State and the Nittany Lions earned Seldon’s last official visit. However, Seldon has visited Tennessee more than any other school and Wiltfong — as well as 247sports recruiting expert Brian Dohn — put in crystal ball predictions for Seldon to Tennessee earlier this week.

Nashville receiver Nate Spillman is currently Tennessee’s only receiver commit in the 2023 class. Seldon is a massive target for the Vols after they missed out on other primary receiver prospects Carnell Tate and Kyler Kasper.

Despite missing out on five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa, Tennessee is in the midst of a strong recruiting stretch that’s seen them climb to No. 11 of the 247sports team rankings.
