The new seating capacity for Neyland Stadium following offseason renovations has reportedly been revealed.
Mike Wilson of the Knoxville News Sentinal first reported on Thursday that the new seating capacity at Neyland Stadium will reduce to 101,915. Neyland Stadium’s seating capacity prior to the renovations that began this winter was 102,455. A Tennessee spokesperson confirmed the report to Rocky Top Insider on Thursday evening.
The decrease is shockingly only 540 seats considering how significant the renovations to the stadium are.
As seen in the concept pictures, Tennessee will be adding a large jumbotron to the north endzone side of the stadium, which will also boast a walking and viewing area for fans in the upper deck. Additionally, chair-back seating has been added along the lower side sideline (behind the Tennessee bench).
WATE reporter Kellyanne Stitts shared a video of the stadium after it had gone through the initial stages of the teardown back in January.

The renovations are expected to be done for the 2022 Tennessee football season.
In 2006 and 2009, Tennessee added East and West club seats that reduced Neyland Stadium’s capacity to 100,011. However, new renovations in 2010 raised the capacity to 102,455.
With the decrease, Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium changes from the 5th largest college football stadium to the 6th largest in the United States.
