Super Bowl LVI Player Props: Quarterback Passing Yards
Former Tennessee players Alontae Taylor, Matthew Butler, Velus Jones Jr. and Cade Mays earned invites to next month’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
Butler announced his invite to the NFL Combine last month, but the three other Tennessee graduates had not. The Vols were four of 82 players and 324 total prospects that earned invites to the combine.
Jones, Mays and Taylor all played in the Senior Bowl last week with Taylor snagging an interception. Butler, as well as defensive back Theo Jackson, participated in the East-West Shrine game.
Jackson, a potential late round pick, did not earn an invite to the NFL Combine. The Nashville native and the rest of the former Vols will have a chance to show their skillset at Tennessee’s Pro Day.
Jones impressed at the Senior Bowl after turning in a career final collegiate season. The Mobile, Alabama native caught 62 passes for 807 yards and 10 touchdowns while honoring co-SEC Special Teams Player of the Year honors.
Butler became the leader of Tennessee’s defensive line last season, playing more than his share of snaps while recording a career high 47 tackles and five sacks.
Taylor earned a pair of interceptions in his final collegiate season including a game-changing pick six in Tennessee’s win at Kentucky.
Georgia transfer and UT legacy Cade Mays moved to right tackle permanently for his senior season, earning Second Team All-SEC honors.
The 2022 NFL Combine lasts from March 1 to 7.
