Since his arrival to Tennessee, Peyton Manning has always been a Volunteer. The legendary quarterback not only set several records in the Tennessee history book, but has also continued to be a supporter and fan through the years. Manning has delivered the first pitch at Tennessee baseball games, has been honored during numerous football games, and even gave a shoutout to the Volunteer State in his Hall of Fame speech this year.
So with the new generation rising in age, it would seem Manning is already starting to pull the strings behind the scenes for his son, Marshall.
On Saturday night, after Tennessee was taken down by Georgia in Neyland Stadium, Bulldogs’ head coach Kirby Smart referenced those strings. In fact, he referenced a particular request from the Hall of Fame quarterback.
“I got a chance to talk to Peyton before the game, but it was more about his son,” Smart said during his postgame press conference. “He wants me to recruit his son. He had me worried because he said he was going to play quarterback today. So, I was getting even more nervous.”
Manning’s recruiting request was likely just a comment made for fun considering his son is just 10 years old. Not to mention, if Marshall Manning does become a highly touted recruit in the college football world, it’s safe to say that his father likely won’t have to make any special recruiting requests. The last name of Manning is one of the hottest commodities in the sports world, and Peyton Manning’s own son is sure to garner attention from coast-to-coast.

Just take Manning’s nephew, Arch Manning, the top-ranked player in the 2023 class. Arch Manning’s recruitment has been plastered all over the sports world’s news feed for a while now as the high-school junior sifts through offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and many other prominent programs.
There are still many years until the potential collegiate recruitment of Peyton Manning’s son. But with Manning’s ties to Tennessee, and with Georgia’s prominence on the recruiting scene, it’s safe to predict those two programs would be in the mix. But regardless, that is a long, long way away.
