Tennessee’s regular season finale against Vanderbilt will kick off at 3:45 p.m. ET and SEC Network will broadcast the game.
The Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt rivalry game has been on the SEC Network every season since the network launched in 2014. The 2016 game — a night game — is the only game that didn’t kick off in the afternoon slot up against CBS’ Game of the Week.
Vanderbilt is 2-8 (0-6 SEC) in head coach Clark Lea’s inaugural season on West End. The Commodores have an embarrassing loss to ETSU and their only wins are over Colorado State and UConn.
The Commodores face Ole Miss this weekend before traveling east on Interstate-40 to face Tennessee the Saturday following Thanksgiving.
Vanderbilt has lost its six SEC games by an average of 28.3 points per game. The Commodores have only lost two SEC games — South Carolina and Missouri — by single digits.
Tennessee is currently 5-5 (3-4 SEC) coming off the hardest stretch of its season. Josh Heupel’s first Tennessee team went 1-3 in four straight matchups against top 20 teams, beating Kentucky but falling to Ole Miss, Alabama and Georgia.
The Vols’ schedule lightens up starting this week. Tennessee can become bowl eligible and are massive favorites over South Alabama this Saturday.
Tennessee has struggled the last decade against Vanderbilt, winning just five games over its instate rival. The Vols have improved as of late against a struggling Commodores program, winning the last two games in the series.
Other top SEC games on the weekend include Ole Miss and Mississippi State on Thanksgiving night on ESPN, Alabama and Auburn on CBS at 3:30 p.m. ET and Texas A&M at LSU at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
