Tennessee football is wearing its all orange uniforms for Saturday night’s matchup with Ole Miss, the Vols announced on Twitter Thursday.
Its the second time this season that Tennessee has worn its orange pants, orange jerseys and white helmet uniform combination. The Vols wore the combo in their 41-34 loss to Pittsburgh.
Tennessee is 2-0 in its classic home uniforms this season, 1-0 in its all white uniforms, 1-0 in its black uniforms and 0-1 in its white jerseys and orange pants. Both of Tennessee’s losses came when they wore orange pants.
Ole Miss also announced its uniform choice for the primetime showdown Thursday. The Rebels are wearing white jerseys, white pants and navy blue helmets at Neyland Stadium.
The orange and white uniforms on the field will match the crowd as the Vols are “Checkering Neyland” Stadium for the first time since 2017. Neyland Stadium’s first sell out since 2017 will accompany the checkering of the stadium and should lead to quite the environment Saturday night.
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said earlier this week that Vol fans needed to create a hostile environment for Ole Miss Saturday.
“We need to make it tough for those guys to communicate,” Heupel said. “Our fans understand that they play with tempo and in their communication, so we need to make it loud and make it uncomfortable for them.”
Tennessee and Ole Miss will kick off from Neyland Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday. SEC Network will broadcast the game.
