The Vols have opened as double-digit road favorites over Vanderbilt ahead of next Saturday’s game.

Tennessee (2-6) is a 14-point favorite over Vanderbilt (0-8) according to the line released on Sunday by Circa Sports at the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The SEC announced on Sunday afternoon that the game will kickoff at 4 p.m. ET and will be televised on the SEC Network.

The contest is being made up from Thanksgiving weekend as a result of the game originally being postponed in an effort by the SEC to make sure every team in the conference played a 10-game season. Instead of Vanderbilt taking on Tennessee that weekend, the Commodores traveled to Missouri to take on the Tigers.

Vandy’s contest with Mizzou was the last time the Commodores were in action. They were blown out by Missouri 41-0. Vanderbilt’s game against Georgia this weekend was postponed due to COVID-19 issues within its program. The Commodores fell below roster minimum requirements, consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 protocols.

Tennessee beat Vanderbilt 28-10 last season in Knoxville to snap a three-game losing streak to the Commodores. Vols running back Eric Gray rushed for 246 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries.

The Vols are coming off of a 31-19 loss to Florida. True freshman quarterback Harrison Bailey made his first career start against the Gators. He completed 14 of his 21 pass attempts for a touchdown and 111 yards. Bailey did not turn the ball over.

JT Shrout did not turn the ball over either, as he was the quarterback for the fourth quarter. Shrout completed 12 of his 14 pass attempts for 121 yards and a touchdown. He orchestrated two scoring drives.

Tennessee will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak when it kicks off next Saturday in Nashville.
