Tennessee’s Week 3 game against Georgia will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS, the SEC announced Sunday afternoon.
CBS exercised a six-day selection option this past Monday. It was deciding to televise either the Florida at Texas A&M game or the Tennessee at Georgia game. With the Vols and Bulldogs both winning on Saturday, and the Aggies losing, CBS selected to head to Athens.
No. 4 Georgia (2-0) is coming off of a 27-6 win over No. 7 Auburn (1-1) at home on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs had quarterback issues in their opening win against Arkansas. With J.T. Daniels not cleared to play yet due to a torn ACL he suffered last season, redshirt freshman D’Wan Mathis made his first career start and struggled. Mathis completed 8-of-17 passes for 55 yards, and threw an interception. He was pulled for Stetson Bennett who was 20-for-29 with 211 yards and two touchdowns in the midst of leading Georgia to 32 straight unanswered points after trailing 10-5.
Bennett continued his success into the Auburn game. In the win, Bennett was 17-of-28 for 240 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions.
No. 21 Tennessee is coming off of a 31-27 win over South Carolina to begin the season, and 35-12 win over Missouri this weekend to begin the season 2-0.
The Bulldogs won last year’s matchup with the Vols 43-14 in Brian Maurer’s first career start at quarterback. Maurer was 14-of-28 through the air for 259 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He would end up leaving the game due to injury.
