Tennessee has made the final four for one of its most coveted defensive prospects remaining on the board.

Four-star defensive lineman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins announced a final four Wednesday night of Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Ingram-Dawkins is the top-ranked player in the state of South Carolina according to the 247Sports Composite in the 2021 class.

On Aug. 21, Ingram-Dawkins stated publicly that South Carolina and Tennessee were his “leaders” while Georgia was considered a “contender” and Alabama was his “dark horse.”

According to 247Sports, Ingram-Dawkins is a four-star and is the top prospect in South Carolina out of Gafney High School. He’s ranked as the No. 5 overall defensive tackle and No. 86 overall recruit at 6-foot-5, 300-pounds.

Tennessee offered Ingram-Dawkins back on January 15th of this year, giving him his fifth overall offer and his second SEC offer. The in-state Gamecocks were the first SEC school to offer him. Ingram-Dawkins now holds over 25 offers.

South Carolina currently has four of the five crystal ball predictions for Ingram-Dawkins, while Georgia has one. Former Tennessee defensive line coach Tracy Rocker, who is now the d-line coach for the Gamecocks, is serving as South Carolina’s primary recruiter on Ingram-Dawkins.

Tennessee defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh is the primary recruiter for Ingram-Dawkins on the Vols’ side of things. Chris Weinke has also played an instrumental role in his recruitment as well.

As a junior last season, Ingram-Dawkins totaled 70 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and eight sacks for Gaffney.

Tennessee’s 2021 class currently ranks No. 6 in the country and third in the SEC per 247Sports. Of the Vols’ 25 current commits, only two are projected as defensive tackles. Four-star KaTron Evans and three-star Isaac Washington are the only two Vol commits listed as defensive tackles currently. Top-40 prospect Dylan Brooks and three-star Darrell Jackson are listed as defensive ends, and three-star Alabama jumbo athlete Trinity Bell could also play along the defensive line in college.
