Elite Pass Rusher Set to Visit Vols

Jeremiah Williams has already been to Tennessee’s campus before, but he wants to get another look at what the Vols have to offer this upcoming weekend.

The four-star pass rusher who plays for Ramsay High School in Birmingham, Alabama tweeted out this week that he’ll be making a trip to UT’s campus this upcoming weekend. Williams took an unofficial visit to see the Vols during the 2019 season when Tennessee hosted Georgia on October 5th.

Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Williams is the No. 158 overall prospect and No. 9 weak-side defensive end in the 2021 class. Williams released a top 15 on Christmas, and the Vols made the cut along with LSU, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, South Carolina, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Stanford, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Duke.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound pass rusher just recently added offers from Oklahoma, Michigan State, and Memphis since the beginning of the year as well.

Williams has a great deal of natural talent, and he blends that ability with a strong football IQ. Watching his film, he shows great awareness and doesn’t just rush headlong into plays. He’ll wait for them to develop if it’s a pass play, and he makes correct reads often. As a pass rusher, Williams shows off good speed, bend, and some good moves to get by blockers.

As a junior for Ramsay, Williams totaled 35 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception in eight recorded games on MaxPreps.

Last weekend, Tennessee hosted a large number of 2021 prospects to go along with a handful of 2020 recruits, too. This upcoming weekend, the Vols’ coaching staff seems to primarily be focusing on future classes such as the 2021 and 2022 cycles, but there’s a chance some 2020 recruits will make it in town as well.

The Vols currently have four players committed to them in the 2021 class. Four-star receiver Jordan Mosley, three-star cornerback Jay Jones, three-star athlete Nate Evans, and three-star running back/athlete Elijah Howard are all pledged to UT right now.
