Both teams need a win to help bolster their NCAA Tournament chances, but only one team will get that much-needed victory.
Tennessee will be playing with a new addition to their roster on Wednesday night, as seven-foot Arizona State transfer Uros Plavsic will be making his Vol debut. Plavsic was finally cleared by the NCAA to play immediately on Tuesday, and his first action will come tonight against the Bulldogs.
The Vols will have their hands full trying to guard Georgia star freshman Anthony Edwards, who is the second-leading scorer in the SEC and was the No. 1 player in the 2019 recruiting cycle per 247Sports. Expect to see Jordan Bowden, Josiah-Jordan James, and Yves Pons matched up on him regularly on Wednesday.
Despite losing their last two contests against the Vols, Georgia has owned Tennessee in men’s basketball recently. Before the Vols’ last two wins, UGA had beaten UT in nine of the last 11 meetings between the two schools. Tennessee has lost five-straight games in Athens, with their last win coming there back in 2011.
