Tennessee gained one four-star prospect in their 2020 class and lost another all in the same day on Monday.
Just hours after the Vols landed the commitment of four-star Memphis lineman Omari Thomas, Tennessee lost the commitment of one of their highest-rated defensive players when junior college cornerback Art Green reopened his recruitment.
Recruitment is 100% back open

Green, a four-star JUCO corner who plays for Hutchinson Community College, tweeted out on Monday afternoon that his recruitment is “100% back open.” The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defensive back had been committed to Tennessee since May 13th of this year, and he was considered one of the top JUCO corners in the 2020 class but seemed to have a drop-off in production in his second year of junior college.
Green unofficially visited the Vols on May 11th and committed two days later. He officially visited Tennessee on October 25th when the Vols hosted South Carolina on the football field.
With Green’s decommitment, Tennessee is back down to 18 prospects committed to them in their 2020 class. Green was the Vols’ only JUCO commit in the 2020 class.
Tennessee holds commitments from three other projected defensive backs in their current 2020 class. Four-star defensive back Keshawn Lawrence and four-star corner Mordecai McDaniel are pledged to the Vols, and three-star defender Tamarion McDonald is likely to see time in the secondary early in his UT career. Four-star athlete Jimmy Calloway could play in the secondary, but he’ll likely start out on offense. Three-star Darion Williamson has some positional versatility, too.
