While Tennessee’s four-star quarterback commit, Harrison Bailey, is getting a lot of the attention in the Vols’ 2020 class for his performance during his senior season, there’s another four-star Vol commit who has been putting up monster numbers this year.
Jalin Hyatt, a four-star receiver who plays for Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, South Carolina, has been a force to be reckoned with during his senior season. The 6-foot, 172-pound speedster has wowed with some big catches this season and has filled up the stat sheet. On Friday night, Hyatt crossed off another school record this season.
In the first half of Dutch Fork’s 45-0 win over Wando High School in the second round of the playoffs, Hyatt snagged four touchdown passes and eclipsed the school’s record for most receiving yards in a career in the process. Not only that, but his four touchdown grabs in a single game are also the most in school history, and three of them came in thr first quarter.

With his superb performance against Wando, Hyatt set the career receiving mark (3,334 yards) and the career receiving touchdown mark (53) for Dutch Fork. Hyatt has hauled in 22 touchdowns this season alone, and that’s a single-season record for Dutch Fork. He also has 51 receptions for 1,071 yards, giving him a 21 yard per catch average on the season.
Hyatt’s play this season and over the last few years has been a big reason why Dutch Fork has dominated their region.
The Silver Foxes haven’t lost a football game since September 1, 2017, and they’ve won three-straight 5A state championships and are on the quest for their fourth-straight this season.
Hyatt committed to the Vols back on July 27th, choosing Tennessee over Virginia Tech, Miami, Kentucky, and others. Hyatt attends the same high school current Vol sophomore cornerback Bryce Thompson played at. The two were teammates for two seasons at Dutch Fork. The athletic wideout was timed running a laser-timed 4.31-second 40-yard dash over the summer.
According to the 247Sports rankings, Hyatt is the No. 290 overall prospect and No. 54 wide receiver in the 2020 cycle. He’s only a three-star on the composite rankings, coming in at No. 452 overall, but he’s due for a boost in his ratings for the next rankings update on Rivals according to Woody Wommack.
“I was really impressed with Tennessee wide receiver commit Jalin Hyatt when I saw him play earlier in the fall,” Wommack said last week. “The knock on him has always been that he’s slight of build, but he has something that can’t be coached – elite speed. He can be quite the weapon in the right offense, especially playing out of the slot, so I’ll be advocating for him to make a move up at his position.”
Hyatt and Dutch Fork will be back in action on Friday, November 22nd when they take on Fort Dorchester in the playoffs.
