Tennessee started out the 2019 season by laying a fat, disgusting egg on the Neyland Stadium grass.

The Vols were stunned on Saturday afternoon in front of only 85,000 fans in attendance, as Georgia State came into Knoxville and delivered Tennessee a 38-30 loss. The game marked the first time since 2008 that Tennessee has lost to a non-Power Five opponent, and it’s the first time ever the Vols have lost to a Sun Belt team.

After the game, Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt spoke with the media. The second-year head coach addressed his team’s sloppy play, whether or not he thought effort was an issue in the game, young players starting their first game for UT, and much more.

You can hear everything Pruitt had to say here:

  1. That game was sad, In my opinion, we need a real quarterback, a real leader, not someone who falls apart when the game starts to go south. The whole team needs to be taught to tackle and not quite playing hard, and all need to in better condition, there were tired in 2nd quarter. Jeremy you better get it together because it’s going to be a long losing season, you might want to start packing, the fans want put up with a 1 or2 win season.

  2. Just like last yr. Coach playing same quarterback, team not working together and miscommunication. Come on Vols, hope this slap in the face gets you mad and make you want to ay next game and be the best team we use to always have

  3. Both defence and offence litterly Sucked…Georgia came to Win and they Did. They were lot faster and stronger. They just couldn’t keep Ga. Player Burnett from going through the defence. They wore The Vols out.
