Tennessee begins their 2019 football season on Saturday, and several young Vols will see their first action of their collegiate careers. Players like Wanya Morris, Darnell Wright, Eric Gray, Henry To’oto’o, Quavaris Crouch, and Warren Burrell will all play in UT’s season opener, and they’ll likely all be counted on to provide quality snaps as the season goes on.

Not all of Tennessee’s young players will need to play all season, however.

The Vols will be counting on quite a few of their 2019 signees to contribute throughout the 2019 season, but there are still several who seem destined to take redshirts in their first year at Tennessee. There’s even a veteran player who seems like he can use this upcoming season as a redshirt year.

With the new redshirt rules that were passed by the NCAA prior to the start of the 2018 season, players can appear in up to four games and still maintain their redshirt for the season. Tennessee took advantage of that new rule with several young players last season, and they’ll likely use that new rule for a handful of players again in Jeremy Pruitt’s second season at the helm.

Take a look at the Vols who are most likely to take a redshirt year in 2019.

Note: Emmit Gooden is not included on this list, though he is expected to get a medical redshirt after suffering a season-ending injury during fall camp earlier this month.
