On Thursday night, Tennessee’s quarterback commit in the 2020 recruiting cycle, four-star Harrison Bailey, went off for an impressive start to his senior season of high school. On Friday night, another one of UT’s four-star commits put up a strong showing to start his final year of high school football.
Jalin Hyatt, the Vols’ four-star wide receiver commit in South Carolina, made some big highlight plays and was the source for most of his team’s scoring on Friday. Dutch Fork took on Mallard Creek on Friday night, and Hyatt couldn’t be stopped.
The 6-foot, 172-pound speedster from Irmo, SC caught three touchdown passes for Dutch Fork and made some incredible plays in the process.
Hyatt’s most eye-popping play came on his touchdown grab right before halftime. Dutch Fork was at the goal line, and Hyatt ran to the left back corner of the end zone. His quarterback lofted a pass to him, and Hyatt managed to make a one-handed grab with his left hand as the defender held back his right arm.

In the first quarter, Hyatt helped with an impressive highlight that got SportsCenter’s attention (the game was broadcast on ESPN News). Dutch Fork pulled off a trick play with a running back pitching the ball to Hyatt who then pitched it back to the quarterback. The ball was thrown deep to another receiver, and he made a superb leaping catch, shook off his defender, and ran in for a score.

One of Hyatt’s other scores came in the back of the end zone just like his one-handed grab. This time, though, it was on the other side of the end zone, and Hyatt needed two hands to bring in the score.

Hyatt, who is the No. 271 overall player and No. 5 prospect in the state of South Carolina on 247Sports, finished with four catches for 33 yards and three touchdowns.
Due to severe weather and a lightning delay, the game against Mallard Creek was delayed for over an hour and then was eventually canceled with both teams tied at 27. Dutch Fork’s undefeated streak remained intact because of the result, and they’ve now gone 26-straight contests without losing.
Last year’s contest between Dutch Fork and Mallard Creek was also affected by weather. The two were supposed to begin the 2018 season in Charlotte, but the game was canceled before it even started due to severe weather.
Hyatt and the Silver Foxes will return to action next Friday, August 30th when they travel to Spring Valley.
