A member of Tennessee’s 2019 recruiting class reportedly won’t be joining the Vols this season and will instead enroll in a junior college.
According to Austin Price of Volquest during a weekly appearance on the morning sports radio show The Swain Event, four-star safety and 2019 Vol commit Anthony Harris won’t be part of Tennessee’s 2019 roster and will enroll at Fort Scott Community College in Kansas.

Price would go on to add that because Tennessee “handled things the right way” throughout the whole process with Harris that the four-star safety is still shooting to be a Vol when he gets eligible after two years in JUCO.
Harris has not been expected to end up becoming an official member of UT’s 2019 class for months. He didn’t officially sign with the Vols as part of their 2019 class, so his departure won’t take away a scholarship spot for Tennessee.
The 6-foot-1, 171-pound safety was rated as the No. 148 overall player and No. 14 safety in the 2019 class according to 247Sports. He played for Havelock High School in Havelock, North Carolina.
Harris committed to Tennessee back on June 8th of 2018. He chose the Vols over offers from Clemson, Oklahoma, North Carolina, South Carolina, and NC State. Academic issues are the reported reason he won’t be eligible to join UT this fall.
With Harris not joining the Vols, Tennessee officially finishes with 22 signees in their 2019 class. The Vols signed five other projected defensive backs in their 2019 class, and Jerrod Means, who signed as a wide receiver, has been practicing as a defensive back in fall camp.
