On Tuesday, Tennessee’s coaching staff sent out an offer to the top point guard in the 2021 recruiting class.
Five-star point guard Khristian Lander from Evansville, Indiana tweeted out that the Vols — specifically assistant coach Desmond Oliver — gave him a scholarship offer.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Lander is the No. 17 overall prospect, No. 1 point guard, and No. 1 player in the state of Indiana. He holds offers from the in-state Hoosiers, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Purdue, Louisville, Illinois, and Florida among others.
The 6-foot-1, 160-pound rising junior has already taken visits to Louisville, Kentucky, and Purdue this past season.
Lander is an exceptional talent already, and he hasn’t even started his junior year of high school. He already has good handles and vision, and he’s a good three-point shooter. The lefty can create his own shot and is capable of driving and operating in the paint as well. He’s only 6-foot-1, but he has a really good vertical and can sky for dunks. He’s not a bad defender, either, proving to be pesky to opposing point guards.
As a sophomore with Francis Joseph Reitz High School last season, Lander averaged 22.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.2 steals a game while shooting 53.4 percent overall and 37.2 percent from three according to MaxPreps.
With the Indiana Elite team in the Adidas Gauntlet this spring and summer, Lander averaged 11.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 17 games according to ExposureSportsNews.com. He shot 50.4 percent from the floor and 36.2 percent from three.
Tennessee has already extended scholarship offers to 11 prospects in the 2021 class, and four of them are projected point guards. Lander joins the likes of high four-star Cam Hayes, high four-star Zion Harmon, and four-star Carter Whitt as point guards offered by the Vols in the 2021 cycle. So far, all but one of UT’s 11 offers in the 2021 class have gone out to players ranked inside the top-100 overall prospects according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
