One of Tennessee’s long-time commits finally put pen to paper on Wednesday, but he won’t be a Vol.

Three-star defensive tackle LeDarrius Cox officially announced on National Signing Day that he would be signing with Ole Miss. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound defensive tackle from Mobile, Alabama officially signed with the Rebels during a ceremony at his high school at McGill-Toolen Catholic High School.

There had been speculation that Cox could be looking elsewhere and seemed to be getting a lot of buzz around Auburn. In fact, he had received three crystal ball predictions from three different recruiting analysts in August and October, and all three predicted Cox would end up at Auburn despite him being committed to the Vols since April. Steve Wiltfong, the Director of Recruiting for 247Sports, Demetric Warren, writer for the Ole Miss 247Sports site, and Keith Niebuhr of Auburn Insider, all predicted Cox would flip to Auburn.

But Cox ended up proving all those predictions wrong. Just not in the way Vol fans hoped for.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Cox is the No. 601 overall player and No. 42 defensive tackle in the 2019 class. He took official visits to Tennessee, Auburn, and Ole Miss in January, and the Rebels ended up getting his signature.

Cox totaled 42 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and five sacks as a senior. He was voted to his district’s all-state team as a senior as well.

Tennessee has three defensive tackles signed in their 2019 class. Junior college prospects Savion Williams and Darel Middleton and in-state prospect Elijah Simmons are UT’s defensive tackle signees in the 2019 cycle.
