With the news that five-star outside linebacker Owen Pappoe recommitted himself to Auburn and likely is shutting down his recruitment, Tennessee’s coaches are looking elsewhere for help at outside linebacker. The Vols are still pursuing players like high four-star Henry To’oto’o, four-star Khris Bogle, and others at the position, but they’re also pursuing an intriguing prospect out of the state of Alabama.
Ke’Shun Brown is a four-star outside linebacker from Montgomery, Alabama in the 2019 class. On Friday, he tweeted out that he plans to take an official visit to Knoxville this weekend.

Brown, who plays for Carver High School, is the No. 353 overall player and No. 19 outside linebacker in the country according to 247Sports. Their composite rankings has him as a three-star, but the regular 247Sports rankings have him as a four-star. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound linebacker holds offers from Alabama, LSU, Florida, Texas A&M, Oregon, and others.

His trip to Knoxville this weekend will mark his first visit to Tennessee this year. The Vols’ new staff offered Brown back in February of this year, and he picked up a few more offers over the summer. He’s made official visits to Pittsburgh and LSU already, and he unofficially visited Georgia Tech in late September.
When looking at his film, what stands out most about Brown is his energy and relentless style of play. It’s just his highlights from his senior season, so take them with a grain of salt, but he doesn’t seem to give up on plays and has keen awareness. He’s a vicious tackler and doesn’t let go once he gets ahold of a running back or quarterback. He goes unblocked on a lot of plays in his film, but the few times he meets a blocker, he does a good job shedding them. He’ll need to work on his moves to get by linemen in college, but he definitely has a lot of raw talent and athleticism. He’s quick and agile and can cover well in the pass game too.
As a senior, Brown totaled 62 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, and he returned an interception for a touchdown.
Right now, the Vols don’t have any commitments from an outside linebacker in their 2019 class, but they do have a couple prospects who could play as an outside linebacker in their 3-4 system. Defensive end Roman Harrison and defensive end Jalil Clemons could both be edge rushing linebackers in UT’s 3-4 scheme, though it’s believed Tennessee’s coaches want to make Harrison a defensive end rather than a linebacker.
