Tennessee travels on the road for their first true road game of the season when they take on No. 2 Georgia on Saturday. The Bulldogs are undefeated on the season and coming off a 43-29 victory over Missouri while the Vols are reeling after a 47-21 loss to Florida last weekend.
Georgia handed the Vols the worst loss in Neyland Stadium history last year when they pummeled Tennessee 41-0 in front of UT’s home crowd. The Vols will be looking to avoid another beat down like that when they take the field in Sanford Stadium on Saturday.
The last time these two teams met in Athens, Tennessee left with a miraculous 34-31 victory in 2016 thanks to a Hail Mary as time expired.
The annual rivalry is about as close as it could be right now. The Vols hold a slight 23-22-2 edge in the series, but Georgia could tie it up with a win this weekend. Tennessee comes into this game as massive underdogs, and they’ll have their hands full with a very balanced and dangerous Georgia team that’s looking to win the SEC East for the second consecutive year.
