John Kelly Gets Emotional When Drafted by Rams

Tennessee running back John Kelly was taken with the 178th overall pick in the sixth round by the Los Angles Rams in this year’s NFL Draft. And he was overcome with emotion when he received the call from the Rams’ coaching staff about getting picked.

Rams’ General Manager Les Snead called Kelly to inform him about the team’s intention to draft him, and once Snead handed the phone to Rams’ head coach Sean McVay, Kelly’s emotions began to pour through. Kelly began to tear up as McVay informed him the team would be drafting him, and he expressed his gratitude to the coaching staff.

Kelly spent three seasons with Tennessee as a running back and was the starter in 11 of the Vols’ 12 games last season. In his three years with the Vols, Kelly ran for 1,573 yards and 15 touchdowns on 327 carries. He also caught 43 passes for 350 yards.
