Tennessee’s coaches were praised for “discovering” wide receiver Jordan Young in the 2018 recruiting class. He went from an unranked receiver out of Heritage High School in Conyers, Georgia to a four-star sensation in a short period of time two weeks ago. And that all happened because the Vols offered him a scholarship and he committed.
But now it looks like the Vols’ diamond in the rough could be going elsewhere.
Young visited Florida State this past weekend during the last recruiting weekend of the 2018 cycle. And according to his Twitter bio, he’s now a “wide receiver at The Florida State University.”
Though he’s not made an official announcement, it looks as though Young is, at the very least, heavily considering flipping from Tennessee to the Seminoles.
Young put up gaudy numbers as a senior at Heritage High School, catching 66 passes for 1,562 yards and 17 touchdowns. His highlight film is what helped him burst onto the scene a couple weeks ago, however.
On his film, Young makes several extremely athletic catches and high points passes routinely. The 6-foot-2, 185 pound receiver knows how to use his athleticism and was a huge play-maker for Heritage.
Young was unranked for almost all of his recruitment, but 247Sports ended up giving him a four-star rating and made him the No. 190 overall player and No. 27 wide receiver in the class the day he committed to the Vols. He’s a high three-star according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
If Young does ultimately flip from Tennessee to Florida State, the Vols will be left with only Alontae Taylor as a projected wide receiver in their 2018 class. Tennessee’s coaches are still pursuing several receivers in the class, such as four-star wide receiver Jacob Copeland.
