Jeremy Pruitt’s coaching staff continues to offer some of the top players in the 2019 class to close out 2017. And they extended an offer to one of the nation’s top offensive tackles in the next recruiting cycle on Thursday.

Jonah Tauanu’u, a four-star offensive tackle, tweeted out on Thursday that Tennessee had given him a scholarship offer. Tauanu’u is the No. 55 player in the 2019 class and the 8th-rated tackle in the class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

As of now, Tauanu’u has offers from over a dozen schools. USC, LSU, Oklahoma, Michigan, UCLA, and Oregon have all offered him among other schools.

The 6-foot-5, 275 pound tackle out of Harbor City, California is a physical blocker who has a tenacity that will excite Vol fans. He shows off great energy and physicality in his highlight film, and he shows the ability to block effectively in both the run game and pass game. And he, much like Trey Smith, shows off that “dog” in him when he run blocks.

Tennessee will need to add some high quality offensive linemen in their 2019 class to bolster depth and find future starters in the class. And someone like Tauanu’u would help accomplish that task.
