The Vols hauled in a solid group of prospects in the early signing period of the 2018 class this week. And they got more good news when one of the cycle’s top junior college offensive tackles released his top three this week.
Jahmir Johnson, a borderline three-star/four-star JUCO offensive tackle, released his top three this week via Twitter. And the Vols made the list along with USC and fellow SEC school Missouri.
Top 3 No Order
1. Missouri #Mizzou
2. USC #FightOn
3. Tennessee #Vols— JayJay (@jahmirjohnson34) December 22, 2017
Johnson is the No. 4 offensive tackle in the junior college ranks according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and he’s the No. 21 JUCO prospect in the 2018 class. Johnson plays for Arizona Western College, and his teammate, Jordan Allen, signed with the Vols on Wednesday.
Tennessee was able to sign a trio offensive linemen on Wednesday when they landed a pledge from four-star, in-state tackle Jerome Carvin and signed previously committed in-state linemen Taylor Antonutti and Ollie Lane.
At 6-foot-5, 278 pounds, Johnson has the size and frame that should work well at the SEC level. He could use to add some weight, but he’s extremely athletic for an offensive lineman and can be seen running downfield and picking up blocks multiple times on his highlight film.
Johnson isn’t expected to announce his commitment until much closer to National Signing Day in February.

I like Johnson’s pose in the above photo. Yes, a true role model. I think it’s time colleges and universities began to recruit true “scholar athletes” instead of more social misfits. Because a kid is a good ball player doesn’t give him or her the right to attend higher education free with the only intention of making the pros. The kid should also have a brain and be responsible.
