It’s already been a busy day for the Vols. And they got more good news when the top junior college tight end in the 2018 class chose to sign with Tennessee.
Dominick Wood-Anderson is the No. 1 tight end in the junior college ranks according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s a four-star prospect and the No. 11 overall JUCO player in the 2018 class.
Wood-Anderson chose Tennessee over offers from Alabama, Florida State, Texas A&M, USC, Auburn, and others. He was considered an Alabama lean for quite a while, but once Jeremy Pruitt took over as the Vols head coach and extended an offer to him on December 8th, Tennessee became heavily involved in his recruitment. Texas A&M and Florida State also pursued Wood-Anderson with fervor over the last couple weeks.
Tennessee had several recruits visit campus this past weekend, and Wood-Anderson was one of the many prospects who came into Knoxville. That visit and his communication with Pruitt and his staff were enough to sway Wood-Anderson to sign with the Vols.
At 6-foot-5, 245 pounds, Wood-Anderson has elite size and athleticism for a tight end. He was used as a wide receiver a lot at Arizona Western College, but he also lined up as a tight end and blocked along the line. His highlight film shows off his pass catching ability and showcases some of his blocking ability as well.
With Wood-Anderson’s signing, the Vols now have 11 players signed during the early signing period on Wednesday. Wood-Anderson is the fourth four-star to sign with Tennessee today, and he’s the fourth player who wasn’t already committed to the Vols to sign as well. He joins four-star offensive tackle Jerome Carvin, three-star running back Jeremy Banks, and three-star quarterback J.T. Shrout as new Vols in the 2018 class.
