Report: Jeremy Pruitt In Contact with Rush Propst

Jeremy Pruitt has reportedly been in contact with a big name in Alabama high school football.

According to a report, Rush Propst confirmed on Monday that he’s had conversations with Tennessee and Alabama about joining their respective staffs.

Propst said he’s on both teams’ radars, but it could be a “long, drawn out thing” before anything is decided.

Pruitt used to work for Propst as an assistant coach for Hoover High School. The two worked together from 2004-2007.

Tennessee’s new defensive coordinator, Kevin Sherrer, was on that same staff.

Propst has nearly 300 wins in his storied high school football career at a few different stops. He’s won five titles at Hoover and two more at Colquitt County in Georgia.

There’s also some familiarity with Propst and the Vols’ current roster. At his current stop with Colquitt County, Propst coached current Vols Shawn Shamburger and Jay Blakely.

It is unclear where Propst would fit on Tennessee’s staff. It’s expected he wouldn’t fill an on-field role but would be part of Tennessee’s support staff. His teams are known for scoring lots of points, however.

Propst’s Colquitt County Packers finished runner up in Georgia’s highest classification this season. He won 5 titles at Hoover and has won two at his current stop.
