It hasn’t taken long for Jeremy Pruitt to find his key assistants at the University of Tennessee. A trio of SEC assistants are expected to join Pruitt in Knoxville.
According to a report from Bruce Feldman of Sports Illustrated, Jeremy Pruitt has already found his defensive coordinator.
SOURCE: #UGA OLB coach Kevin Sherrer is expected to be the #Vols new DC under Jeremy Pruitt. In addition, Tracy Rocker and Chris Rumph are expected to join that D-staff. Lots of good experience there, especially in the SEC.

Kevin Sherrer currently coaches outside linebackers at the University of Georgia. He’s been in that position since 2014. Before that, Sherrer was the defensive coordinator at South Alabama from 2012-13. His Jaguars’ defenses finished second in the Sun Belt in yards allowed per game in both 2012 and 2013, and Georgia’s linebacking corps has done well under him over the last four seasons. He coached under Pruitt when Pruitt was Georgia’s defensive coordinator from 2014-15.
Pruitt is also expected to bring in Tracy Rocker and Chris Rumph along with Sherrer. Rocker, a former Auburn player, was the defensive line coach for the Bulldogs. He was an All-American defensive tackle for Auburn and won both the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award in 1988. He was a third-round pick in the 1989 NFL Draft by Washington.
Rocker had been the defensive line and associate head coach with Georgia from 2014-16 before his firing. Before working with the Bulldogs, Rocker was the defensive line coach for the Tennessee Titans in the NFL from 2011-14. He’s also coached the defensive line at Auburn, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.
Rumph played at South Carolina in college. He’s spent the past three seasons coaching the defensive line at Florida. Before that, he coached the defensive line at Texas, Alabama, Clemson, and Memphis.
This trio joins the already reported additions of offensive line coach Will Friend, secondary coach Terry Fair, and the retention of running backs coach Robert Gillespie. Tyson Helton from USC is also expected to join Pruitt’s offensive staff.

Very impressive staff if he gets them on board.
I do not expect a lot his first year or maybe not the second year with the terrible condition of the Tennessee athletic department. Especially the football program.
