No. 6 Tennessee returned to Knoxville and delivered the home crowd an exciting win on Wednesday night.
The Vols used a massive second half to defeat No. 23 Georgia by a score of 74-56 in the Food City Center.
Tennessee trailed Georgia by one point heading into the halftime break while neither team’s offense could find a rhythm in the first 20 minutes. The story was drastically different in the second half. Tennessee erupted to a 20-4 run to start the second half of action to build a lead that Georgia wasn’t able to come close to before the end of the game.
Vols’ guard Jordan Gainey led all scorers with 19 points while Zakai Zeigler was just behind with 16 of his own. Notably, Tennessee guard Jahmai Mashack notched 11 points against the ‘Dawgs while going a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor.
After the game, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes met with the media and was followed by Jahmai Mashack and Zakai Zeigler on the stage.
