Tennessee Football Announces Uniforms For CFP Game At Ohio State

Tennessee football is wearing its all white “stormtrooper” uniforms for its College Football Playoffs first round matchup Ohio State, the Vols announced on Wednesday night.

It’s the fifth time this season that Tennessee has worn its all white uniforms including in wins over North Carolina State, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt as well as its loss at Georgia.

So far this season, the Vols are 1-0 in their smokey grey uniforms, 3-0 in their classic home uniforms, 1-0 in their “dark mode” uniforms, 1-0 in their white helmets, orange jerseys and orange pants combination, 3-1 in their all white uniforms and 0-1 in their white jerseys and orange pants combination.

Ohio State is wearing its scarlet jerseys and scarlet pants along with its silver helmets. The Buckeyes are wearing uniforms to match the crowd as they’re doing a “scarlet out” a Ohio State for the playoff game.

Tennessee enters the postseason 10-2 (6-2 SEC) with wins over rivals Alabama and Florida and losses at Arkansas and Georgia. The strong showing earned them the No. 9 seed and their first ever College Football Playoff appearance.

Ohio State also enters the postseason 10-2 (9-2 Big 10) after a slightly disappointing regular season. The Buckeyes earned wins over Penn State and Indiana while suffering a defeat at Oregon and at home against Michigan.

The winner of the first round matchup advances to face No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day. The Ducks are the only undefeated team nationally and earned a first-round bye after winning the Big 10.

Kickoff between Tennessee and Ohio State is at 8 p.m. ET at Ohio State in Columbus on Saturday night. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe are on the call for ABC and ESPN.
