No. 19 Tennessee moved to 8-0 on the season with a historic 80-point win in Knoxville on Saturday afternoon.

Kim Caldwell’s Lady Vols squad defeated NC Central by a score of 139-59 as Tennessee recorded the most single-game points in program history and SEC history with the win.

The Lady Vols knocked down 30 three-pointers in the win on Saturday, which was good for another all-time record. No team in NBA, WNBA, or NCAA history had ever put up 30 three-pointers in a single game until Caldwell’s team did it on Saturday afternoon on Rocky Top.

Eleven Tennessee players recorded points on Saturday as Samara Spencer led the team with a career-high 33. Spencer’s nine three-pointers in the game is a new Tennessee program record, too.

Spencer scored more than half of NC Central’s total points in the game but was helped out by her teammates throughout. Tennessee’s Ruby Whitehorn notched 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting while Zee Spearman put up 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the win.

Along with head coach Kim Caldwell, all three players met with the media after the game to discuss their reactions to the record-breaking contest.
