The Tennessee Volunteers are in.
After putting up the second 10-2 regular season under head coach Josh Heupel in four years, the Tennessee Volunteers have officially locked in its spot in the 2024 12-team college football playoffs.
Tennessee drew the nine-seed in the bracket which means that the Volunteers are the highest-ranked visiting team in the seeding. The Vols will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to take on eight-seed Ohio State in the first round of the playoffs. That game will take place on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Tennessee began their season with two Top 25 wins in the first four weeks with victories over NC State and Oklahoma, both games away from Knoxville. While the Vols did drop their first game of the season to unranked Arkansas to begin the month of October, Tennessee rebounded well. The Vols returned to Knoxville for a massive four-game, five-week home stretch and beat Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, and Mississippi State in that stretch.
Tennessee suffered a loss to Georgia in the quarter of the season but rattled off two convincing wins over UTEP and at Vanderbilt to close out the regular season.
After Tennessee’s spot in the bracket was revealed, the Vols’ social media team put together a long-form hype video to get Tennessee fans roaring to go over the next two weeks.
