Tennessee Football Opens As Underdogs At Ohio State In CFP

Ohio State opened as seven-point favorites against Tennessee in the first round of College Football Playoffs matchup according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The over/under is set at 46.5.

According to the game line and over/under, Ohio State is projected to earn approximately a 27-20 victory over the Vols.

The game line is the closest of the four first round College Football Playoff matchups. Penn State, Notre Dame and Texas are all between eight and 10.5 point favorites over the prospective opponents.

Tennessee is 7-5 against the spread so far this season including a 4-5 record against power four opponents. The Vols covered in theirs wins over NC State, Oklahoma, Alabama and Vanderbilt but failed to cover in SEC games against Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Georgia.

The over has hit in seven Tennessee games this season with the under has hit five times.

Ohio State is 6-6 against the spread this season including a 5-4 record against power five opponents. The Buckeyes covered in wins against Michigan State, Iowa, Penn State, Purdue and Indiana. They failed to cover in wins over Nebraska and Northwestern as well as losses against Oregon and Michigan.

The over has hit in five Ohio State games this season and the under has hit in seven games.

Tennessee is in the 12-team expanded College Football Playoffs after posting a 10-2 (6-2 SEC) record with wins over rivals Alabama and Florida and its losses coming on the road at Arkansas and at Georgia.

Ohio State had a disappointing regular season, going 10-2 (7-2 Big 10) with wins over playoff teams Penn State and Indiana but losses at Oregon and against arch rival Michigan to close the regular season.

Kickoff between Tennessee and Ohio State is at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 21. ABC and ESPN are both broadcasting the game.
