One of the most exciting opponents from Tennessee’s 2024 season is reportedly looking for a new home next year.
According to a post from On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Sunday evening, North Carolina State wide receiver Kevin “K.C.” Concepcion is planning on entering the transfer portal when it opens up on Monday, Dec. 9.
Concepcion was projected to be one of college football’s premier playmakers this season after putting up a freshman season in 2023 that saw him record over 1,100 all-purpose yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. Hindered by the Wolfpack’s offensive woes in a down year, though, Concepcion didn’t get back up anywhere near his first-year numbers.
One of Concepcion’s better games this season came against Tennessee in Charlotte, NC, for the Duke’s Mayo Classic. This was before NC State’s season started to spiral but Concepcion was still about to make plays early on. The sophomore receiver notched 53 yards on just five receptions in a 10-point effort against the stout Tennessee defense.
Concepcion’s best game this season was in the Wolfpack’s opener against Western Carolina as he recorded 121 yards and three receiving touchdowns on nine receptions.
Overall, Concepcion finished the 2024 season with 460 yards and eight touchdowns (six receiving, two rushing) on 53 receptions.

The Charlotte, NC, native was only ranked as a three-star prospect on the recruiting trail but has bumped up to a four-star prospect in 247 Sports’ Transfer Portal rankings. 247Sports also lists Concepion as the top wide receiver and the second-overall player in the portal, though it’s still extremely early in the process.
Concepcion was named the 2023 ACC Rookie of the Year and was named to the Freshman All-American team last season.
Another receiver Tennessee could potentially keep an eye on in the portal is Mississippi State’s JJ Harrell. The freshman receiver was originally a Tennessee commit in 2023 but flipped his commitment to Mississippi State before enrolling. After a year in which he didn’t see the field this past season, Harrell is also reportedly set to enter his name into the portal on Monday.
