Tennessee fans look to be having some fun on Vanderbilt’s campus ahead of the big rivalry game between the Vols and Commodores this weekend in Nashville.
According to Barstool Tennessee on Instagram, more than 250 Checker Vandy flyers have been hung up around Vanderbilt’s campus ahead of the game.
The Checker Vandy flyer reads, “Gameday Update – Make sure to wear the color for your section for this weekend’s game. We will be celebrating National Environmental Awareness Week. Anchor Down!”
It’s important to note that there are only a few pictures attached to the post and it’ll be tough to confirm just how many flyers were distributed out. Regardless, though, the trolling doesn’t have to just be physical.
The original post on Instagram has nearly 19,000 likes and more than 2,100 shares. Whether the flyers were actually distributed or not, many people who see the post will believe that they were. That might not only excite the Tennessee fanbase but soften the Vanderbilt fanbase heading into the game. Or it could provide some motivation for the Commodores. We’ll just have to see.
Whether it be 250 physical Checker Vandy flyers hung up around campus or just a viral Instagram post that has nearly 19,000 likes, both are a successful troll from the Tennessee fanbase leading into Saturday in Nashville.

In September 2022, Tennessee fans began designing a Checker Vanderbilt model for the Vols’ game in Nashville that season.
While the movement never actually came to fruition that year, Tennessee fans had fun with the idea leading into the game. Tennessee went on to defeat Vanderbilt 56-0 that day in Nashville.

Vanderbilt will host No. 8 Tennessee in FirstBank Stadium at Noon ET this Saturday in the regular season finale.
The stakes couldn’t be higher for Tennessee in this in-state rivalry matchup. A loss by the Vols would be detrimental to Tennessee’s playoff chances. On the flip side, though, it’s as simple as “win and you’re in” for Josh Heupel’s group. Tennessee can punch its ticket to the 2024 College Football Playoffs with a win over Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon.
