Tennessee guard Chaz Lanier was named Bara Mar Hoops Tournament MVP after a sharpshooting two-day stretch en route to the Vols’ championship win.
Lanier scored 26 in Tennessee’s win over Virginia on Thursday and 25 against Baylor on Friday night to lead all scorers in both games.
The North Florida transfer was particularly hot from behind the three-point arc in the Bahamas. Lanier knocked down 6-of-12 shots from three-point range against Virginia and went 7-of-10 on Friday night against Baylor.

While Lanier didn’t score in the second half against the Bears, his first-half showing was unbelievable as he knocked down Tennessee’s first 15 points of the game on 5-of-5 shooting from the perimeter. Lanier was launching from distance, too, as multiple shots were either from the midcourt logo or deep near the sideline on the wing.
Lanier helped Tennessee jump out to a 23-4 lead over No. 13 Baylor en route to the 77-62 win to claim the championship.

The 6-foot-4 guard appeared as the player interviewed on TV after both games and continuously gave credit to his teammates.
Through six games this season, Lanier leads Tennessee with an average of 16.2 points per game. Lanier knocked down 18 and 19 points in his first two games for the Vols including a road game at Louisville for the latter. Lanier has only scored single-digits one time this year with a five-point showing against Austin Peay.
