Tennessee dropped in both the AP Poll and the Coaches Rankings on Sunday afternoon after a 31-17 loss to Georgia in Athens on Saturday night.

The Vols dropped four spots from No. 6 in the AP Poll but remained in the Top 10, right at No. 10.

Tennessee fell seven spots from No. 4 to No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll on Sunday.

These rankings are a good thing to track throughout the season to see any interesting trends or moments, but the rankings now used for the television broadcasts have been the College Football Playoff rankings. Tennessee was ranked No. 7 in the CFB Playoff Poll at the time of its loss to the Bulldogs on Saturday.

The third edition of the 2024 College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider for more on where Tennessee winds up on Tuesday with just two games left in the regular season.

The interesting trend with Sunday’s AP rankings that could indicate less-than-favorable news for Tennessee on Tuesday is that the Vols were jumped by Ole Miss, Alabama, and Georgia with the loss on Saturday. That puts Tennessee in a catch-up position for the playoffs with so many SEC teams ahead of them in the AP rankings. Tennessee is now the fifth highest-ranked team from the SEC in the Week 13 AP Poll behind No. 3 Texas, No. 7 Alabama, No. 8 Georgia, and No. 9 Ole Miss. Josh Heupel’s Volunteers round out the four-team SEC run at No. 10 on Sunday afternoon.
