No. 7 Tennessee will host Mississippi State on Saturday night in Knoxville as the Vols look to cap off a four-game, five-week home stretch with an SEC win. The Bulldogs, on the other hand, are looking to upset the odds to find their first conference victory of the season.

Thursday night presented the second injury report for the game on Saturday with one slight difference on Tennessee’s side from Wednesday. There are no changes to the Mississippi State side. The Bulldogs have eight players out and two players probable while the Volunteers have four players out and one player doubtful for the game.

The SEC injury report will come out each night starting on Wednesdays leading to the final report 90 minutes before each game on Saturday. Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider for updated injury reports leading up to each of Tennessee’s games.

Here’s a look at the Wednesday night injury report for the Tennessee-Mississippi State game on Saturday night:

TENNESSEE

OUT

  • DB Jourdan Thomas
  • LB Keenan Pili
  • LB Edwin Spillman
  • RB DeSean Bishop

DOUBTFUL

  • DL Tyre West

Tennessee Notes

One change from the Wednesday night report for the Vols as Tennessee rotational defensive lineman Tyre West was downgraded from questionable to doubtful.

Thomas and Pili won’t be back with season-ending injuries and Spillman has been out for the majority of the season.

DeSean Bishop is a notable player not available for the game on Saturday as he left last weekend’s game with an injury in the second quarter. Bishop has been the main backup to Dylan Sampson but expect to see a healthy dose of freshman running back Peyton Lewis against the Bulldogs in the backup slot.

Mississippi State Notes

  • Shapen began the year as Mississippi State’s starting quarterback until Michael Van Buren took over the job after an injury starting with the Bulldogs’ loss to Texas on Sept. 28. Van Buren has led Mississippi State in passing in all five games since.
  • Whittemore recorded four receptions in the Bulldogs’ first three games of the year and doesn’t appear to have played since.
  • Keyvone Lee is Mississippi State’s third-leading rusher on the season with 140 yards on 29 carries. Lee’s workload has been significantly behind the top two backs, though, at 104 carries and 86 carries, respectively.
  • Mario Craver is a big one to watch this week as he has the second-most receiving yards (355) and the fifth-most receptions on the Bulldogs’ roster this season. He is currently listed as questionable.

No. 7 Tennessee will host Mississippi State at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday night in Neyland Stadium. Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider for live, on-site coverage of the game on Saturday.
