Four-star wing Amari Evans became Tennessee basketball’s second commit in its 2025 recruiting class on Friday night. Evans committed to Rick Barnes and his staff over a top group that includes Pitt and Xavier.
Evans is now the Vols’ highest rated commit in the 2025 cycle, ranking as the No. 74 player and No. 14 small forward nationally according to the 247sports composite rankings.
A Pittsburgh native, Evans plays his prep basketball at Overtime Elite in Atlanta. But the bulk of his available highlights come from what he did this summer with the New Heights Lightning on the EYBL circuit. The EYBL is Nike’s AAU circuit and is the top AAU summer circuit.
In this six minute video, Evans shows his skill set as a high level catch-and-shoot scorer with an ability to score in transition and score at the rim. Perhaps what stands out most in Evans highlights is his effectiveness on the defensive end and being able to turn it to points on the other end.
With his high level of intensity and 6-foot-5, 205-pound frame, Evans should be a high level defender at the college level. Check out his highlights here.
