Three-star linebacker Brenden Anes flipped his commitment from Wisconsin to Tennessee football on Thursday night. A Franklin native, Anes originally committed to the Badgers back in January before flipping to the instate Vols on the final day of October.

After a lot of prayer and conversations with my family, I will be stepping away from my commitment to Wisconsin and committing to the University of Tennessee,” Anes wrote in part of his commitment post. “Thank you Coach Heupel and Coach Inge for this opportunity to stay home and protect the checkerboards. Let’s work!

“Vol Nation… I will give me all for Tennessee!! GBO.”

Ames ranks as a three-star commit and the No. 584 player in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound prospect also ranks as the No. 61 linebacker in the country and the No. 20 player in the state of Tennessee.

A Page High School standout, Ames has helped lead the Patriots to a 9-0 record to this point in the season ahead of a critical showdown with a strong Nolensville team to conclude the regular season this Friday night.

Tennessee originally offered Anes back last November but upped its efforts as of late. The three-star recruit visited Tennessee unofficially for its win over Florida earlier this month. The visit came shortly after he officially visited Wisconsin.

Anes is Tennessee football’s 24th overall commit and third linebacker commit in the 2025 recruiting cycle joining four-star Jaedon Harmon and four-star Christian Gass. Alabama was working hard to flip Harmon while Georgia has worked hard to try and flip Gass this fall. Harmond solidified his commitment to Tennessee following his official visit for the Vols’ win over the Crimson Tide.

With Anes commitment, Tennessee’s 2025 recruiting class ranks eighth in the nation and seventh in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
