Each week Rocky Top Insider will recap the performances of former Tennessee Volunteers in the NFL.

Below is a comprehensive list of week seven’s VFLs in the NFL, including statistics and observations.

Derek Barnett – Houston Texans – DE

Barnett had one tackle in the Texans 24-22 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Matthew Butler – Las Vegas Raiders – DT

Butler participated in four snaps for the raiders, appearing strictly on the special teams unit.

Morgan Cox – Tennessee Titans – LS

Cox snapped the seven times and had a tackle in the Titans’ 34-10 loss against the Bills.

Joshua Dobbs – San Francisco 49ers – QB

Dobbs did not see the field in the 49ers 28-18 loss to Trey Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs, a repeat of the Super Bowl matchup.

Hendon Hooker – Detroit Lions – QB

After Hooker made his debut in week six for the Lions, the former Tennessee star did not see the field in the Lions 31-29 win against the previously undefeated Vikings.

Jalin Hyatt – New York Giants – WR

Hyatt played only three snaps in the Giants 28-3 loss to the Eagles.

Theo Jackson – Minnesota Vikings – DB

Jackson finished the game with one tackle for the Vikings as they suffered their first loss of the season to the Lions.

Gabe Jeudy-Lally – Tennessee Titans – DB

Jeudy-Lally was elevated from the practice squad for the Titans matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Alvin Kamara – New Orleans Saints – RB

Kamara had seven carries for a total of 10 yards, as well as six catches for 14 yards. Kamara recently signed a two-year contract extension with the Saints.

Cade Mays – Carolina Panthers – OL

Mays played one snap on special teams for the Panthers in their 40-7 loss to the Commanders.

Jaylen McCollough – Los Angeles Rams – DB

McCollough had two interceptions for the Rams in their 20-15 win over the Raiders. The first interception came off a deflected pass by a wide receiver, with McCollough making a nice adjustment on the ball in Raiders territory.

The second came with less than two minutes remaining, as Gardner Minshew was scrambling out of the end zone, and McCollough came down with the off-target pass to seal the game.

Joe Milton III – New England Patriots – QB

Milton did not see the field in the Patriots 32-16 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars,

Josh Palmer – Los Angeles Chargers – WR

In one of two Monday Night Football games, Chargers wide receiver Josh Palmer had four catches for 63 yards in Los Angeles’ 17-15 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He was targeted five times.

Jalen Reeves-Maybin – Detroit Lions – LB

Reeves-Maybin got his number called on a fake punt in the first half for the Lions. Reeves-Maybin did not convert for the first down, but gained two yards on the play.

Trey Smith – Kansas City Chiefs – OL

Smith played in 73 snaps for the Chiefs as they won the Super Bowl rematch against the 49ers 28-18. VFL’s Smith and Josh Dobbs completed a jersey swap after the game that can be seen below.

Alontae Taylor – New Orleans Saints – CB

Taylor finished the Saints 33-10 loss to the Broncos with seven tackles and a pass breakup.

Cedric Tillman – Cleveland Browns – WR

Tillman had his most productive day in the NFL on Sunday, as he hauled in eight catches on 12 targets for a total of 81 yards. He also caught a two-point conversion. The Browns trade with the Bills that sent Amari Cooper to Buffalo shows a confidence in Tillman’s skill-set, as he will now have much more opportunity as a starting receiver.

Shy Tuttle – Carolina Panthers – DL

Tuttle recorded his fifth start of the season for the Panthers, and ended the day with three tackles. The Panthers lost to the Commanders 40-7.

Dee Williams – Seattle Seahawks – RS

Williams returned one kickoff for 38 yards, as well as one punt for 18 yards. The Seahawks defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-14.

Jaylen Wright – Miami Dolphins – RB

Wright rushed for 33 yards on five carries, averaging over six yards per attempt. The Dolphins lost to the Colts 16-10. Former Alabama quarterback and current Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa looks to return from injury in week eight, which will likely bolster a currently dormant Dolphins offense.

Byron Young – Los Angeles Rams – OLB

Young came off the bye week in week six and finished week seven with six tackles and two quarterback hits. The Rams defeated the Raiders 20-15.
