Even the judge said “smoke ’em if you got ’em” in this week’s SEC Shorts video.
The latest sketch on Monday morning captured the mood of Tennessee fans coming out of the game on Saturday night as the smoke-filled celebration lingered in the air.
Tennessee fans stormed the field with cigars in hand after the Vols took their second-straight home victory over the Crimson Tide for the first time since 1990 and 1992. Tennessee earned a signature win on the season, 24-17, in a back-and-forth battle in front of a sold-out Neyland Stadium.
The Vols now enter the open date after back-to-back rivalry wins over Florida and Alabama, but there’s still work to be done on the offensive side of the ball as Tennessee prepares for Kentucky next Saturday night. Tennessee was left scoreless in the first half for the third game in a row, missing open plays down the field and playing with a lack of energy at times. On the shoulders of running back Dylan Sampson and an improved second-half effort from Nico Iamaleava, though, Tennessee was able to strike when it mattered and came away with 24 second-half points to earn the victory over Alabama.
Tennessee’s win keeps the Vols as a serious contender for the 12-team playoff while Alabama’s chances tumbled with the loss.
The SEC Shorts crew was sure to poke fun at the current state of Alabama fans with plenty of jokes about cigars and field storming. As always, the sketch also followed the other action from the SEC on Saturday. Georgia came to play in Austin and pounded Texas 30-15 in what looked like a classic Georgia victory.
The controversial pass interference call which resulted in Longhorns fans throwing trash on the field was depicted hilariously, making sure to shout out a certain condiment bottle all Tennessee fans remember from 2021.
