Will Brooks grew up in the Birmingham suburbs just 65 miles from the University of Alabama. The redshirt senior, walk-on safety sealed Tennessee’s second win over Alabama since 2006 by intercepting Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe on the final drive of the Vols’ 24-17 win over Alabama.

Brooks tied a team-high eight tackles, including one for a loss while recording the game sealing interception over the Crimson Tide.

Tennessee trailed 7-0 at halftime as the Vols’ offense struggled again with three turnovers, two missed field goals and a handful of of missed plays down the field.

But the Vols’ defense kept them in the game and Tennessee’s offense found life in the second half. Tennessee had three scoring drives. Dylan Sampson did the heavy lifting on the first touchdown drive. Nico Iamaleava threw a beautiful deep ball to Dont’e Thornton for 55 yards on the second touchdown drive to set up another Sampson score. And then Iamaleava found Chris Brazzell for a 16-yard touchdown on the third drive.

On Alabama’s final four drives, the Crimson Tide failed to get a single first down culminating with Brooks’ interception. Check it out here.
