A pair of Tennessee football players earned SEC weekly honors for their performances in the Vols’ 23-17 overtime win over Florida at Neyland Stadium.

LEO James Pearce Jr. is the co-Defensive Lineman of the Week while STAR Boo Carter is the co-Freshman of the Week.

Pearce turned in the best game of his junior season to date against Florida, recording seven tackles, one tackle for loss, 0.5 sack, one forced fumble and one fumbled recovery in the win. The edge rusher stripped Graham Mertz at the one-yard line and recovered the fumble in one of the biggest plays of the game. He also recorded two quarterback pressures.

LSU defensive end Bradyn Swinson split the SEC weekly honor with Pearce, totaling eight tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks in the Tigers win over Ole Miss.

STAR Boo Carter had his biggest workload of the season with Christian Harrison out for the game with an injury. Carter tallied seven tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack in the win. He had an incredible sequence late in the first half, tallying a tackle on a tunnel screen and a sack on back-to-back plays to end the first half.

Carter split SEC Freshman of the Week honors with Mississippi State quarterback Michael Van Buren. Van Buren completed 20-of-37 passes for 306 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Mississippi State’s loss at Georgia.

Week seven marked the first time this season that either Pearce or Carter earned SEC weekly honors. Nico Iamaleava, Cooper Mays, Max Gilbert and Josh Josephs have earned SEC weekly honors earlier this season.
